Blessing Ministry

"Whenever you did this for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me." ~Matthew 25:40
Our Blessing Ministry is just beginning as we serve as the hands and feet  of Christ in our community. Our goals and tools are in a fluid state and may change as God's plan for Cuba United Methodist Church evolves along with the needs of God's children in our community. Below is a list of actions and items we are planning to put into effect to kickoff our Blessing Ministry. Please, join us in sharing God's abundant love and grace as we serve as Christ's hands and feet in Crawford County.

Blessing Bags
Our ministry is to provide drawstring bags filled with personal hygiene items and other necessities for homeless and impoverished people upon release from medical care at Sullivan Hospital. The bags will be handed out by the social worker at the hospital at their discretion. We will provide bags for both women and men. Our goal is to assist with the daily needs of 130 of God's children each year.
Items we are collecting for our Blessing Bags include: Drawstring Nylon Backpacks, Socks (children's/Men's/Women's), Bar Soap, Toothbrush/Toothpaste, Wet Wipes,  Deodorant, Razors, Lip Balm, Travel size lotion, Feminine Hygiene Products, Granola bar, Bottled water, Hair Brush/Comb, Hand Sanitizer, Gift Certificates to fast food restaurants ($5.00 is recommended amount), and Toilet Paper.
In addition, we will include seasonal items such as hand warmers, gloves, scarves, stocking hats and foil blankets for winter and sunscreen and sunglasses for summer.

Blessing Box
Our ministry is to build, supply, and maintain a Blessing Box with free personal hygiene items and other items to the underserved in our community. Our hope is the box will be utilized by elderly, impoverished families, and homeless that may not have access to these items. We selected items for our Blessing Box  that are not available through the Cuba Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry. Our goal is to reach approximately 5-10 people per week.

Free Market/Clothes Closet
Our ministry is to provide free clothing to those in need. Although this mission is in the early stages of design, our thought is to open our Fellowship Hall once a month for a few hours  and allow those who are unable to purchase clothing to enter and select items donated. Before our Free Market/Clothes Closet can open. we must build our inventory of apparel. Donations of coats, hats, jeans, boots, shoes, sweatshirts/sweatpants, blankets, gloves, and scarves are our most pressing needs as winter quickly approaches.

Funding
The funding for our Blessing Ministry relies entirely upon the generosity of benevolent donations. Please help us reveal God's loving grace to those in need by giving today. The Giving link below will take you to our secure online Giving. Please select Blessing Ministry from the drop down 'FUND' menu to ensure your gift goes directly to our Blessing Ministry. No gift is too small. Please consider becoming a partner with Cuba UMC as we work as the hands and feet of Christ bringing blessings to God's children in need. Thank you and God Bless.
"Those who are gracious to the poor lend to the Lord, and the Lord will fully repay them." ~Proverbs 19:17
